The warmer months of October, November, December, and January are the perfect times for getting outdoors and enjoying all of the best water activities that the Gold Coast has to offer! Luckily for you, if you are staying on the Gold Coast Broadwater during the summer months there’s a super exciting local attraction back again to bring some serious fun to families that love getting in the water!
What is the Gold Coast Aqua Park?
GC Aqua Park is a fantastic inflatable obstacle course set up off the shore of the Broadwater Parklands. Swim out and climb up onto huge inflatable ramps, climb up and over, rocket down giant water slides, and see if you can beat friends or family members in getting to the finish line!
Duck, dive, dodge, and make your way through the huge number of obstacles around the circuit, but try not to fall in, or fall victim to a surprise nudge from a competitor and fall into the water! You’ll have to pull yourself back up again and try and make up for that lost time!
The GC Aqua Park runs from 10am to 5pm on weekdays, and 9am to 6pm on weekends. The last weekday session starts at 4pm, and the last weekend session starts at 5pm. It’s only open during the warmer months of the year, so this is your chance to join in on all the fun while you can!
Where is Gold Coast Aqua Park located?
If you park at the main car park near the outdoor stage, you’ll want to make your way south past the giant yellow bounce zone, picnic areas, and playgrounds. The GC Aqua Parkis located just off the shore opposite the kids bike racecourse circuit.
The Broadwater Parklands themselves are located just opposite the Australia Fair Shopping Centre in Southport, just a few minutes drive north of Main Beach, Gold Coast. You can stroll to the Parklands from our Southport Broadwater resort accommodation with ease.
What do I need to know before I go?
The GC Aqua Park is pretty strenuous, so before you consider buying a ticket and getting in the water there are a couple of things to consider. You want to have pretty good fitness levels, as you’ll be swimming in tidal waters, climbing, jumping, balancing, and running! LIfe jackets are provided (and compulsory to wear) but you will need a bit of stamina to complete the course if you want to have as much fun as possible.
For families, the minimum age to join in at GC Aqua Park is five years old, and all children participating must be able to swim. Children under ten must be accompanied by an adult that can also complete the course, and there is a ratio of one adult to two children as a minimum. Of course there are fully qualified lifeguards on duty, but it’s for the safety of all participants that a buddy system is in place and everyone looks out for each other.
How much does it cost?
General entry for a session starts at $20 per person. A 50 minute single session is $20 per person and a 100 minute double session is $30 per person. You can book your tickets online here for maximum convenience and to make sure you secure a spot, or take a chance and book on site on the day.
How long is a session?
Sessions start on the hour, but you are required to be there half an hour early in order to complete the signup process including waiver, and be fitted for your life vest. A Gold Coast Aqua Park water obstacle course session lasts for 50 minutes. If that’s just not enough, you can double up and book 100 minutes! Ninja warriors can certainly put their fitness to the test with a double session out on the water!
What else can I do while I’m in the area?
Chances are you’ll be pretty hungry after burning off all of that energy on the floating obstacle course, so refueling will likely be on the top of your list of priorities. It’s the perfect opportunity for a picnic on a lush grassed area under a shady tree in the parklands.
You could also take a stroll up to Cafe Catalina and treat yourself to some sumptuous fine dining with waterfront views. Whether it’s a cool beverage, tasty tapas, a light meal or a few courses of delicious offerings from the chef, you’ll be glad you stopped by.
Of course, it’s hard to look past the Southport Yacht Club if award winning dishes with sparkling water views are just what you’ve been craving. Awarded the title of the best marina restaurant in Australia in 2019, food enthusiasts will be utterly delighted when they dine at this lovely spot in Main Beach.
No matter how you choose to spend your day, you’ll love coming back to your affordable holiday apartments for a soak in the spa, or unwinding with a glass of wine enjoying the spectacular views of the Gold Coast Broadwater.
